Puppets for Peace

Bully-Proofing for Pre-school through Grade 6

The Project Ploughshares
Puppets for Peace Program offers a choice of three age-appropriate, interactive puppet presentations with peaceful relationships as the central theme.

Kindergarten and Grade 1: Friendship skills.
Grades 1 to 3: Steps to handle bullying.
Grades 4 to 6: Active citizenship arising from a bullying situation.

The Grade 1 to 6 plays provide teaching packages to teachers containing activities and resources. These are emailed to the school in advance of the presentation. For the Grade 4 to 6 play it is strongly recommended that the lesson plans provided or equivalents are followed prior to and following the presentation. Schools also receive posters to reinforce the learnings.

Puppets for Peace recommends two professionals who between them will do classroom visits for schools wishing more in-depth work on bully-proofing, and both Professional Day workshops for teachers on bullying and workshops for parents.

We are grateful to Telus who provided the grant for our newest puppet presentation, 'Birds of a Feather' for Grades 4 to 6.

By September 2007 Puppets for Peace had been seen by 40,000 students and teachers in Calgary and Alberta. Puppets for Peace has travelled to Peace River in the north, Claresholm, Alberta, in the south and Leader and Abby, Saskatchewan in the east. See our Testimonial page.
